I've got some bad news,
and I've got some really bad news.

First, the bad news is that banners have not worked well in the past. The really bad news is that they still aren't working well. This is not to say that an affiliate campaign will not work, but it isn't as simple as making a cute jumping animal.

The Affiliate Network industry has been falling in effectiveness since 1999. It could be argued that the vast number of affiliates are helping with its own demise because the viewer is pounded with too many banners, thus numbing the viewers attention and response. Or, it could be argued that the banners are poorly rotated with affiliates that are not related to their demographic. There are many possibilities, but there are also still many opportunities.

Some of the important basic steps that Bonfire focuses on are as follows:
  • Matching the affiliate(s) with the ideal niche networks.
  • Research and comparison of fee models and technologies
  • Configuration and programming of tracking codes
  • Concept and creation of campaign creative
  • Concept and creation of Landing Pages
  • These are the basics and you will learn much more when we meet.
Some of the possible pluses are:
  • Well-matched affiliates can be good for branding.
  • Potential for large surges in traffic if the banners are well-placed and conceptualized.
  • That's about it. But, "it" can still be good.
