200 Search Engines for $14.95!" (Yeah right! SPAM # 2,862 for 2002) Have you received a similar SPAM? We receive many calls asking if such email offers really work. Quite frankly, for gaining you strong positions in the top 5 search engines, the answer is "No". But, it might just work for that remote niche search engine that contains all of the companies who ship snow from tropical islands. For the most part, the first active steps in a web marketing strategy are to develop a keyword strategy, and to then develop a plan to obtain high rankings for these keywords. Moreover, since each search engine tends to have a slight lean towards specific niche users, then the rankings should be targeted for the search engines that will lean towards your niche. The search engine technologies are constantly evolving, so if you would like to know how to stay on top of the rankings, then plan on spending at least a few hours every week reviewing the latest technical documents (and top ranked sites) within each of the respective search engines. And, if you think that you can simply buy your way to the top, then you had better be prepared to pay a never-ending alimony and brace yourself for the next wave of fee placement standards; you will go from being in the Top 10 to being invisible. How can we help you?
A quick note about our founding company, MetaTaggers. For a bit of quick
reference, when MetaTaggers started in the medieval web era of 1991, the
Meta Tag code actually played a key role in how many of the engines ranked
your site. As a matter of fact, we were way ahead of our time and people
just could not understand why they needed us. In those good old days we
could code pages to rank willy-nilly for whatever keywords we hot-coded.
Well, the party's over and it has been over for many years now. Although
Meta tags still have a value for some engines, we have kept the name "MetaTaggers"
as a sort of badge for being one of the original search engine optimization
companies. Sure, it kind of dates us, but until our pre-printed checks
run out, that's the name. And we have a lot of checks left.
